2nd Battalion, 13th Infantry Brigade, 5th Infantry Division (Yorkshire)
This is our Secondary Impression for the Wiltshire Regiment. This impression is used for any events that portray the fighting throughout Sicily and Italy.
The 2nd Battalion Wiltshire Regiment was attached to the 13th Infantry Brigade which was part of the 5th Infantry Division (Yorkshire).
At the onset of WWII the division was rushed to France as part of the British Expeditionary Force. It participated in several engagements during the Battle of France, notably the battle of Arras, before being evacuated at Dunkirk.
After Dunkirk the Division was rebuilt in Scotland and prepared for German invasion. However as this threat was reduced the Division was transferred.
2nd Battalion Wiltshire Regiment with parts of the Division participated in the Invasion of Madagascar, and then spent some time in India. The Division was then set to the Middle East where it patrolled Iraq and Persia.
By 1943 the 5th Infantry Division was sent to partake in the invasion of Sicily. It followed up this with the invasion of Italy. From there the Division participated in many key battles such as the Moro River Campaign, First Battle of Monte Cassino, The Break out from Anzio, Liberation of Rome.
After its time in Italy the Division was pulled for rest and refit and then sent to Europe where they participated in the invasion of Germany.

The Impression
The following information will give you the basic information to build our Italian Theater Impression. This is a basic list of the essentials required to field. There are lots of smaller items that can be added over time that make for a well rounded impression.
Things To Remember
When in doubt about an item contact the Unit Authenticity Officer. It is better to ask questions about something that your unsure of rather then spending large sums of money on the wrong things!
Uniform
The pictures above show what soldiers would look like when fighting in Italy. Italy itself was very much a hodgepodge of uniform combinations. You will routinely see wool and tropical uniforms combined as well as full P37/40 style wool uniforms and full tropical uniforms.
For this impression we have elected to go with the full tropical style uniform as seen in the pictures above as we have several pictures of the Wiltshire Regiment in that uniform during the campaign in Italy. As well as that, the primary event we attend for this impression is routinely held in July in New Mexico making it very warm weather.
